Elon Musk has stepped back from his active role in dismantling the US government and is even actively hostile towards the Trump administration now. Hence, it’s easy to dismiss him, to forget the damage done by DOGE and Musk in the early part of this year, or to get distracted by the endless bad news coming out of the administration.
Fortunately, there are still many people actively involved in quantifying the damage done by his abuse of power, such as Brooke Nichols at Boston University. Nichols is a mathematician and disease modeler who took it upon herself to “do the math” and publish her results online. She created an impact counter that tracks the deaths resulting from the destruction of HIV, malaria and tuberculosis programs managed by USAID.
Back on February 2, Musk tweeted gleefully about how he’d “spent the weekend feeding USAID into the wood chipper” instead of going to some “great parties”, a truly remarkable display of his psychopathic disregard for human suffering and death. This doesn’t come as a great surprise to anyone familiar with his lack of concern about injuries in the Tesla factory or deaths resulting from FSD, but it ratchets it up another level or ten.
In case anybody needs a reminder of the impacts of Musk’s unconstitutional rampage through the federal government, current deaths attributable are well over 300,000. If nothing is done to reinstate the deleted programs, Musk will likely chalk up Third Reich numbers in the not too distant future.
